![]() It's relatively difficult, so it's not baby's first RPG. It's about 60 hours long for a standard playthrough, and 110 for all the extras. It is not a good game and it is definitely not the best in the last two gens. This is a purely turn-based JRPG. LO is only remembered because it was THE high production value jrpg on the system everyone had because of the price of the PS3. ![]() The only two games LO is objectively better than that I can think of that were bigger deals than a lot of the deep cut jrpg games like Record of Agarest War or Atelier would be Star Ocean 4 and Tales of Zestria. That generation didn’t have a bunch of killer jrpgs but LO is scratching the bottom of the barrel of actually playable/tolerable jrpgs. ![]() If you want you can even add Dragons Dogma and Souls games to the list. Even Tales of Xillia and Graces F are better than LO. Even excluding the FF games (which were all better than LO) there was Folklore, Resonance of Fate, Tales of Vesperia, Valkyria Chronicles, Ni No Kuni, Trails, Nier which were all better than LO. I've watched and read a lot of reviews and I'm pretty sure this is going to be one of my favorites. I'm making this topic because I'm kind of expecting dragon quest 11 to be one of my favorite jrpg's ever and its not that far away from releasing (september 4th). Other contenders for best console jrpg's the last 2 gens (ps4/360 eras) are probably valkyria chronicles, nier, and the first ni no kuni. It certainly was no Ivalice, not even close. A lot of the ideas were interesting, but nothing had a lot of depth to it and the politics and world building wasn't really that good. I guess my main issue with lost odyssey is its lore and world building, or lack thereof. The 1000 dream stories were freaking awesome as well. I just feel Lost Odyssey had some pretty cool ideas like the immortals and Jansen is one of my funniest party members ever but I could see how someone wouldn't like him. And like the topic title suggests, I'm talking only console jrpg's don't play handheld ones at all so please only discuss console ones. Nameĭo you guys agree? Please take into account that I haven't owned any nintendo consoles since the N64 so I never played the xenoblade games even though I wanted to so I can't comment on them.
